This Privacy Policy explains how the Calvin Protestant Church – Lansdowne (“CPC Lansdowne”, “we”, “our”, or “us”) collects, uses, and protects your information when you use the CPC Lansdowne mobile app or website. By using our app, you consent to this policy.

1. Information We Collect

We collect only limited personal information necessary to provide our church services and app features, including:

• Email address — used for user registration and communication.
• User ID — automatically generated by Firebase Authentication for secure account identification.
• Device identifiers — may be collected automatically by Firebase for analytics and stability purposes.

We do not collect or store financial, health, or location data.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information collected only to:

• Enable user authentication and secure access to app features;
• Manage user submissions (e.g., event bookings, requisition requests, prayer requests);
• Improve and maintain app performance and reliability.

3. Data Security

All user data is encrypted in transit using HTTPS and stored securely in Google Firebase. Access to user data is strictly controlled and limited to authorized administrators.

4. Data Retention

User data is retained only as long as your account remains active or as required for legitimate operational or legal purposes. Once deleted, data cannot be recovered.

5. Account Deletion Request

If you wish to delete your CPC Lansdowne app account and all associated data, please send an email to admin@cpclansdowne.co.za with the subject line “Account Deletion Request”.

Your account, profile information, and associated data (including event bookings or requisition submissions) will be permanently removed from our Firebase systems within 7 business days of verification.

Once deletion is completed, your data cannot be recovered. You will receive a confirmation email once the process is finished.

6. Partial Data Deletion

At present, we do not provide a separate option for partial data deletion without removing your account. However, all data is automatically and permanently deleted within 90 days after an account is removed.

7. Cross-Border Data Transfers

As CPC Lansdowne uses Google Firebase (a cloud platform operated by Google LLC), your information may be securely stored on servers located outside South Africa. All transfers comply with international data protection standards and ensure an equivalent level of protection in line with the POPI Act and GDPR.

8. POPI Act Compliance

CPC Lansdowne complies with the South African Protection of Personal Information Act (No. 4 of 2013). We process personal information lawfully and transparently, ensure that it is used only for its intended purpose, and maintain appropriate technical and organizational safeguards.

In terms of the POPI Act, you have the right to:

• Request access to the personal information we hold about you;
• Request correction or deletion of your data;
• Withdraw consent for the continued use of your personal information.
